Tuesday Thingers

Today's question:

Favorite bookstores. What's your favorite bookstore? Is it an online store or a bricks-and-mortar store? How often do you go book shopping? Is your favorite bookstore (or bookstores) listed as a favorite in LT? Do you attend events at local bookstores? Do you use LT to find events?

I must say (& I really hate it) that I don't have a favorite book store in the town where I live. We do have a Hastings & it is fine, but I don't really shop there that much. In the town close by, they have a Barnes & Noble, which I do enjoy visiting. My favorite book store, the one I actually use the most is Amazon.com. I can find out all kinds of information about books I am interested in there. I can read editorial reviews, reader reviews, top-selling lists, & I can buy new or used. I go book shopping way too much, at least once a week, if not more. I do not attend events at local bookstores, there are none that I know of. I will have to check LT to see if there are any events.

p.s. please enter my book giveaway:)

I don't shop at the online bookstores because I don't use credit cards, and none of them will work with PayPal. Barney Noble's will do PayPal, but only if you're using it to pay with a CC.

Maybe amazon is not not that great for browsing, but as I browse blogs, I always add to my amazon wishlist and then shop from my wishlist - very easy!

Interesting to see how many people shop at Amazon - I like the site, but I'm still addicted to browsing through a bookstore. =)

I have done a lot of shopping at Amazon. I especially like to order used books through them. I have had really good luck.

I'm sad to say there aren't any really great bookstores around me either. We have a B&N and a Borders, but no nice indie stores that have such personality. I do try to go to the Half Price Bookstore and help the environment by recycling books. I use Amazon to look up titles mostly. They sell magazines and whatnot that deal with cock fighting; I simply can't help support an organization that supports animal cruelty so I refuse to buy anything from them.

I will travel a resonable distance, though, to attend author events. This week I'm headed to Columbus and next month to Pittsburg.

I find myself using Amazon alot for searching and reading information about books, but I don't order from the site unless I can't find a book at a local store.

I do like Amazon but it easy really easy to keep track of my wish list on there! But I much prefer to shop in person for my books.
